SUNDAY JAN 30th and FEB 27th 5-7pm
Processes Revealed – Voice Workshop:
BROULALA - A CAPPELLA IMPROVISED JAZZ
227 Sterling Road Unit 112 (just south of Bloor on Ruttan St.)
$8 (discounted student price $5)
Broulala is Andrea Kuzmich’s most recent project which features a great group of singers who improvise over cool arrangements of the standards and venture into some of the more shady areas of jazz.
As part of the Processes Revealed – Voice Workshop, Broulala will be performing a set, workshopping some new arrangements, and opening the floor up to questions. If interested, scores will also be made available. For those interested in a cappella singing, improvisation, or jazz, this is an excellent opportunity to gain new insights!
Somewhere There is a venue for creative music in Toronto, often featuring improvised music and interdisciplinary performances. (Dance and art installations are often part of the venue’s makeup.)
The singers joining Andrea on Jan 30 are:
Christine Duncan (Barnyard Drama/Records, founder/leader of the improvising choir Element, instructor in vocal jazz dept at UofT)
Tyson Kerr (pianist, composer, vocalist)
Juliet Palmer (clarinetist and composer (VOICEBOX)
Jessica Stewart (The Jessica Steward Few, composer, guitarist, vocalist)
and Simmon Li (vocalist)
Another session will be held on February 27 2011
